That hipster ring special agent Hugh Lockwood wears? It's a camera, transmitting image and sound of his surroundings. It's also a scanner, detecting tell tale changes in pulse or other biometric readings of himself and the people around him. Hugh O'Brian portrays Lockwood and Burgess Meredith is his mission director in Probe, a telefilm that has Lockwood on a quest to recover priceless diamonds lost since World War II. O'Brian and Meredith reprised their roles in Search, the 1972-73 TV series inspired by the film.

  1. THANK GOODNESS THE SERIES WAS BETTER THAN THE PILOT

Posted by Duane D. Brodnick on 31st Jan 2018

Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy PROBE/SEARCH as a series but the pilot! It was boring. Yes, the opening segment was exciting, But after that it went down hill. All you saw was the Lockwood's character leering after the Summer's character. Where was the excitement? And the Control Team Gloria character (Angel Tompkins) really got on my nerve. No matter how many times Cameron told her to stifle her comments, she wouldn't shut up! I'm so glad she wasn't in every episode once it went to series. I don't know how much of her I could take. NBC asked Gene Roddenberry to do a second pilot for STAR TREK. Why didn't they do the same here? As an after thought, the series got better half way through its run. The control center's location was changed and much brighter and they brought in new Probe techs. Plus, later episodes were better written and acted. Too bad it wasn't renewed for a second season. I would still like it to be rebooted for today's world.
